A visit from Erika's Mum

Vicki came to Room One today to talk to us about her job. She works at the hospital as an anaesthetist technician. She showed us what would happen if we had to go to hospital for an operation. Vicki read us a book then let us use a stethoscope to check our heartbeats.
Guess what?  We were all alive and well because our hearts were beating!!

She also gave us bandages, special plasters, gas masks, injections, hair nets and shoe covers.
Look at us now!!

Thank you Vicki and Erika, now we know what we will see if we go to hospital for an operation. We will be put to sleep and all fixed up by the Doctors and people like you.

Busy trying to make the most shapes out of twenty sticks.

Fire Safety

Today we had two firemen come and talk to us about what are toys ( balls, little cars, dolls etc. ) and  what are tools ( hammers, screwdrivers and MATCHES and CANDLES ).
We also learnt how to shout Fire! Fire! really loud and crawl out of a house if we see/ smell smoke or hear a smoke alarm.

Get down
Get out
And Stay out!!

Science in Room One: Making Oobleck

Using cornflour, water and some food colouring we made Oobleck. We had to decide whether it was a solid or a liquid. You may want to try this at home and find out which it is???
